I-52 The relationship of thinking, feeling and willing to various time cycles

Man and the World of Stars, Lect. 2;

The relationship of the human being to the cosmos is further involved in how the threefoldedness of the human being’s activities, thinking, feeling and willing, is related to the daily, yearly and lifetime cycles. Our thoughts, whether we are foolish or clever, are the small change carried out daily, but only to the regions closest to the Earth. Our feelings, i.e., our heart-nature, is carried out yearly farther into the cosmos, at Christmas, which is reflected by the tendency at this midwinter time to look at the year and resolve what the next year shall be like. Both of these are strictly regulated in time. But our will, which is left in the hands of humanity itself, must be borne out into the cosmos by the human being itself, which is done when it passes through the gate of death. Thus, the relationship of these three to the time periods when they are carried out into the cosmos (cycles), and the manner in which they are then carried out, may be tabulated as follows:

Activity Cycle Manner by which Carried Out
Thoughts Daily Sleep
Feelings Yearly Christmas
Willing Lifetime Death

The parts of the cyclical year disclosed to the ancient human being the nature of the human being, as follows:

Spring = Physical body
Summer = Etheric body
Autumn = Astral body
Winter = Ego
