John’s Gospel, of course, emphasizes Jesus as “the I Am,” but John’s Apocalypse (written, by the same author known as “John”) makes it clear that the “Name” of Jesus is “the I Am,” for it is the only “Name” that is known, and can be spoken, only by the one who bears it (see Rev 2,17; 3,12; 19,12). |
