Lev 17,3-4,6,10-14: 3"If any man of the house of Israel kills an ox or a lamb or a goat in the camp, or kills it outside the camp, 4and does not bring it to the door of the tent of meeting, to offer it as a gift to the Lord before the tabernacle of the Lord, bloodguilt shall be imputed to that man; he has shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people. . . . 6[A]nd the priest shall sprinkle the blood on the altar of the Lord at the door of the tent of meeting, and burn the fat for a pleasing odor to the Lord. . . . 10If any man of the house of Israel or of the strangers that sojourn among them eats any blood, I will set my face against that person who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people. 11For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it for you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement, by reason of the life. 12Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, No person among you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger who sojourns among you eat blood. 13Any man also of the people of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, who takes in hunting any beast or bird that may be eaten shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust. 14For the life of every creature is the blood of it; therefore I have said to the people of Israel, You shall not eat the blood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off." Deut 12,16,23,27: 16"Only you shall not eat the blood; you shall pour it out upon the earth like water. . . . 23Only be sure that you do not eat the blood; for the blood is the life, and you shall not eat the life with the flesh. . . . 27[A]nd offer your burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, on the altar of the Lord your God; the blood of your sacrifices shall be poured out on the altar of the Lord your God, but the flesh you may eat."

Job 16,18: "O earth, cover not my blood, and let my cry find no resting place." [Note: this usage seems to be more esoteric than exoteric.]

Job 39,30: (speaking of the hawk and eagle) "His young ones suck up blood; and where the slain are, there is he" [Note: again this usage may be more esoteric than exoteric.]

3. The prohibition of the eating of blood, while not stating that a creature's life is in its blood:

Lev 7,26-27: 26"Moreover you shall eat no blood whatever, whether of fowl or of animal, in any of your dwellings. 27Whoever eats any blood, that person shall be cut off from his people." Lev 19,26; Deut 15,23; 1 Sam 14,31-35; 2 Sam 23,17; Ps 50,13; Ezek 44,6-7,15; Acts 15,20,29; 21,25

4. The turning of an object into blood:

Ex 4,9: "If they will not believe even these two signs or heed your voice, you shall take some water from the Nile and pour it upon the dry ground; and the water which you shall take from the Nile will become blood upon the dry ground."

Ex 7,17-21; Ps 78,44; 105,29

Joel 2,30-31: 30"And I will give portents in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke. 31The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes."

Acts 2,19-20

Rev 6,12b: … and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood

Rev 8,7-9; 11,6; 16,3-6

5. The effecting of salvation and/or life preservation through animal blood:

Ex 12,7,13,22-23: 7"Then they shall take some of the blood, and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which they eat them. . . . 13The blood shall be a sign for you, upon the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall fall upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt."… 22"Take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood which is in the basin, and touch the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood which is in the basin; and none of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning. 23For the Lord will pass through to slay the Egyptians; and when he sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not allow the destroyer to enter your houses to slay you."

2 Ch 30,16; 35,11 Heb 11,28: By faith he kept the Passover and sprinkled the blood, so that the Destroyer of the first-born might not touch them.

6. The ritual of animal sacrifice as an atonement for sin, peace offering, ordination of priests, etc.:

Ex 23,18a; 29,12-21; 30,10

Lev 1,3-5: 3"If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer a male without blemish; he shall offer it at the door of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted before the Lord; 4he shall lay his hand upon the head of the burnt offering, and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. 5Then he shall kill the bull before the Lord; and Aaron's sons the priests shall present the blood, and throw the blood round about against the altar that is at the door of the tent of meeting."
